MAS CERTIFIED GREEN® InDoor Air Quality
MAS Certified Green® is a program that is accredited for performing and labelling VOC emissions tests, which are deemed mandatory in interior construction products by LEED. Some of the products tested and certified by the program are as follows:
- Carpets
- Floor and Wall Coating
- Furniture and Sitting Groups
- Insulation Materials
- Paints and Coatings
- Adhesives
- Wood Products
- Window Dying Films
You can see MAS Certified Green® certified products here.
MAS Certified Green® is included in the list of certifications/organizations/institutions supported by the Turkish Ministry of Trade within the scope of supporting documentation for market access. The Turkish Government covers 50% of the spending incurred by institutions during the MAS Certified Green® certificate registration process. Here is the Annex 5 document, where the MAS Certified Green® is included in the documents that are covered by the support, as can be seen in Article 24 Clause (ii) in “Institution/Foundation Documents”.
After Turkey joined the top 8 in the world in the use of LEED Green Building certificates, SÜRATAM recognized the potential demand for VOC emissions measurements and became the only qualified registration and publishing institution for MAS Certified Green® in Turkey. Processes for Similar Product Groups
Collective compliance testing for multiple products
Detailed assessment of emissions quality is performed for all products which will be included in the certification program.
In cases where the emissions of construction materials cannot be accurately predicted, MAS performs short-term R&D tests in a small chamber to evaluate and compare the degasification resulting from representative materials, construction types and options.
Similar products are grouped together on the basis of their predicted common emissions profiles in order to observe:
- Types of degasification of volatile compounds
- Similar degradation ratios of these chemicals in time.
The BIFMA compliance chamber test requires the implementation of the ‘worst case scenario’ (WCS) for each unique product class that is defined.
Compliance is set according to the test results of the WCS, and the test is applicable for all similar product groups in the relevant class.
